Steamed Broccoli

2 head(s) broccoli
1 tablespoon(s) coconut oil
1/2 medium lemon(s), juiced, (optional)


  1. Cut the broccoli into individual florets. Also chop the stalk if desired.
  2. Add 1 inch of water to the bottom of a medium pot, and insert a steamer basket.
  3. Fill the steamer basket with raw broccoli.
  4. Cover and cook over medium-high heat until bright green and softened, around 8-10 minutes.
  5. Toss with coconut oil to coat, and drizzle with lemon juice (if desired) to serve.

    8-10 minutes is way too long if you like a bit of texture to your broccoli. 3-4 minutes then take out a piece and do the bite test

    What if you don’t have a steamer basket?

      Nichelle R – You can just put water in the bottom of a saute pan and place the broccoli in the pan and “steam” it that way on medium heat. Just move the pieces around every once in a while.
