Chef Salad

This Chef Salad combines classic fresh ingredients like lettuce, tomatoes, celery, and avocado with hard-boiled eggs, chicken or ham and crumbled bacon. A Paleo-approved salad dressing completes the dish. This is a surprisingly filling salad that can be eaten for lunch or dinner.

  • 4 large egg(s) hard-boiled, halved
  • 1 head(s) lettuce, red leaf
  • 1/2 pound(s) chicken breasts, boneless, skinless or ham, grilled and diced
  • 2 slice(s) bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup(s) tomatoes, cherry or grape halved
  • 4 medium onion(s), green sliced thin
  • 2 medium celery stalk(s) diced
  • 1 medium avocado(s) diced
  • 4 tablespoon(s) Simple Salad Dressing (recipe) or favorite salad dressing


  1. Hard-boil eggs, cool and remove shells.
  2. Meanwhile, cook bacon and crumble, grill chicken and dice (or dice ham).
  3. Wash and chop vegetables.
  4. Divide lettuce between two plates, top with vegetables, eggs, avocado and meats.
  5. Top with Simple Salad Dressing.


  1. Sunday Dinner says to ‘cook chicken and prep ingredients for tomorrow’s salad’… what chicken, cook it how? and does it go in the chef salad for Monday Lunch? That recipe only lists ham. Thanks.

  2. Loving the idea of a Chef Salad. Does it matter what kind of lettuce? I’m not a big fan of iceberg lettuce but love the Waimanalo Greens I am able to buy here on Oahu.

  3. Can someone tell me what Paleo fiendly dressing would be? I prefer to have olive oil and balsamic vinegar on my salad. Does that work?

  4. I would assume that this recipe is supposed to say 4 Tbsp of dressing instead of tsp, since the dressing states that 1 serving is 2 Tbsp. Other than that looks yum, can’t wait to make it!

  5. Super filling and makes a lot. I ended up splitting the salad, and served half with dinner and split the other half for lunch for myself and DH. I can’t wait for lunch tomorrow!
