Prosciutto Melon Wrap-Ups

1/2 medium cantaloupe(s), or honeydew melon, seeded
1 package(s) ham, prosciutto, sliced (4 oz.)
2 sprig(s) mint, fresh, chopped
toothpicks, (optional)


  1. Carefully slice cantaloupe into 1 inch wedges. Remove and discard the rinds.
  2. Wrap each cantaloupe slice with prosciutto. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  3. Garnish with fresh mint and serve chilled or at room temperature.

    I want to see pictures! Either way these sound delicious. I picked up some cured wild boar (forget the exact name of it) at some point from Trader Joe’s and it sounds like it would be absolutely perfect subbed in for the prosciutto. Now I need to go see if they still carry it.

    Absolutely disgusting. Raw prosciutto does not taste good even with melon.

    I need your help. Because of digestive issues at the time, my physician tested me for food sensitivity. My list was the longest the nutritionist had ever seen. I have a long list of allergies as well. When you have a sensitivity to something such as cantaloupe (in my yellow category) what are my options for substitution? I may need more than a little help with this one. If you would like I can send you the list of my sensitivities, and maybe we could come up with a plan together. I am changing my life for lots of reasons but energy level is a major concern.

      Thanks for your comment and I’m sorry to hear about your health issues and lack of energy. My name is Kinsey and I’m one of the nutritionists here at Paleo Plan. For starters, you might want to check out this article which explains that the results of food allergy tests are often…questionable, especially if the test was done with anything other than using a blood to test for specific antibodies to various foods. Multiple food sensitivities (elevated IgG antibodies to various foods in the blood) are frequently the result of a leaky gut. Food particles are able to escape through a leaky gut and trigger the immune system to create antibodies against virtually any food that is able to gain access to your bloodstream via the leaky gut. The solution doesn’t necessarily need to involve eliminating all of the foods to which your body has produced antibodies to. Rather the leaky gut needs to be healed, so the immune system can take a break and do some healing itself. The Paleo Diet is great because it removes many of the foods that contribute to a leaky gut, and many people are able to reverse their food allergies simply by going Paleo. However as I discuss in this article, sometimes additional modifications are necessary and truly every person is different and will have unique circumstances that need to be addressed.       I am sorry you didn’t like these. The salty prosciutto with the sweet melon does have a unique taste though. Hope you try some other recipes and let us know how it goes.
