We're proud and excited to announce our new movement, We Want Paleo at www.wewantpaleo.com! Wewantpaleo.com is the beginning of a food revolution. We want Paleo options in our local restaurants and we're pretty sure you do, too. Even just a few options would be amazing because I'm honestly tired of eating plain, bunless burgers on a bed of lettuce every time I go out to eat. BORING. So sign your name and give us your zip code and we'll try … Continue reading →
I am not a super social person (and neither is my fiancé), but we couldn't resist the invitation to attend a Paleo Meetup in Denver last night that Jimmy Moore of Livin' La Vida Low-Carb was going to be at. Not only that, but one of my favorite bloggers, Peggy Emch of www.theprimalparent.com, was going to be there, so I would have a chance to meet her, too. The reason for the dinner was that the American Society Of Bariatric … Continue reading →
Is there an evil conspiracy going on? Perhaps not. Perhaps the evil is merely a product of creeping greed — avarice that has crept into the food and chemical industries and into government as a natural consequence of opportunity and disregard for consequences. Would those industries and their friends in government attempt to suggest that the Paleo diet was merely a fad? Would greed be a powerful enough motivation? It's possible. Here are three lies the food industry would like … Continue reading →

Our winner of the 30-day challenge reminded me of Terry Wahls' story about her own battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). Terry Wahls is a doctor who realized the key to her success with multiple sclerosis (MS) was a Paleo diet. She's all over the internet and has been for quite a while now, but it dawned on me that some of you may not have heard her story yet. Enjoy this TED talk she gave - it's unconventionally inspirational.
Dr. Daniela Jakubowicz (we'll call her Dr. J from here on out) and some other researchers in Tel Aviv recently published a study in the journal, Steroids, called "Meal timing and composition influence ghrelin levels, appetite scores and weight loss maintenance in overweight and obese adults". The media is all over it right now because they've concluded from this study that, in Dr. J's own words, "Eating chocolate cake as part of a full breakfast can help you lose weight." … Continue reading →
1. Vote for the Paleo diet in Outside Magazine's poll for best diet of 2012 here. Go to the page and scroll down. On the left hand side below "Recent Articles" you'll see where to vote. We're already crushing the competitors. 2. Registered dietitians are trying to monopolize the nutrition world by making it illegal for nutritionists (like myself) who aren't RDs to give people nutritional advice. If this happens, that means the USDA's My Plate and all of the … Continue reading →
So I'm a little late on the uptake of this article, "The Prehistoric Diet Plan", by Dr. Oz, but I can't help but comment publicly. In this completely misleading, egregiously off-putting article, he starts off with one of the piece's only true sentences, "The cave people were ahead of their time when it came to maintaining a healthy diet, not to mention lean body mass." By the way, I love how he ignorantly calls our prehistoric ancestors "cave people", as … Continue reading →
Often times, people in the Paleo diet world feel at odds with the rest of the non-Paleo food community. Many such people have grabbed on to food myths, or out-dated research, and just refuse to believe that some of the pillars of a Paleolithic lifestyle can be healthy. So, I love it when I stumble across a non-Paleo resource that confirms a lot of what we've been preaching about the Paleo diet. Over at Lifehacker, today they covered 10 Stubborn … Continue reading →
This week in the Paleo Plan world, We found a few articles, websites or blog posts that we thought were interesting this week. Thought I'd share them here. You may have heard a little bit about the drama surrounding a recent US News World Report article identifying Paleo as their last place diet (out of 20) and giving it only two stars out of five. The health experts noted that the diet has only been tested in one small study and that most of its benefits are unclear. Basically the experts make it sound as if Paleo is a giant, protein-filled mystery. You knew the Paleo community wouldn't take … Continue reading →
