Are There Paleo-friendly Condiments?

Does time fly, or does it spring? Because it feels like this season is springing away! ;) It’s already week 3 of our ‘Spring into Paleo’ 30 Day Challenge where we’ve been dialing in Paleo for weight loss and autoimmune issues. Sound interesting? Come join us!

In other great news, we’ve got a FREE GIFT for you this week – who doesn’t love that? Especially when the gift is a free jar of Paleo-friendly mayonnaise!

Until supplies run out, our friends at Thrive Market are (generously) offering our Paleo Plan readers a free jar of Primal Kitchen’s Avocado Oil Mayo. It’s the only non-GMO and gluten-free mayonnaise in existence made from nutrient-dense avocado oil, organic cage-free eggs, and whole food ingredients that you can actually pronounce. If you aren’t familiar with Thrive Market, they’re an online health food store selling Paleo staple foods at a serious discount (with free delivery to boot)!

While it’s true that most commercially-available condiments aren’t Paleo, there are a few companies out there making some healthier alternatives. I’ve linked to a few of our favorites below and in our Nutritionist Product Recommendations page.

In true Paleo fashion, most condiments can be made from scratch using real food ingredients. Check the links below for more information about keeping your condiments Paleo, and for some DIY recipes for making homemade mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard.

Is Mustard Paleo?

is mustard paleoThe term mustard is a bit confusing as it refers both to the plant (and its seeds) as well as a commercial product available on grocery store shelves and at restaurants. The mustard plant, is one of the oldest foods consumed by humans and is most definitely Paleo. The commercial product in a jar, unfortunately, is rarely Paleo.
