What’s up buttercup?!
The air is growing warmer and excitement is abuzz as the summer season draws near (along with our next FREE Guided 30 day Paleo Challenge)…are you ready?
I’ve been spending a lot of time in my organic garden lately – the lettuce, radishes and brassicas are already in full bloom! Virtually anyone can grow at least some of their food, despite your living situation. Kitchen gardens, microgreens, hanging baskets, and containers of all sorts can provide enough bounty for an entire family, without much effort at all.
When you grow your own organic veggies, you can rest assured that you’re doing your part to help the environment while enjoying fresh and truly organic produce. Conventional produce is often laden with harmful pesticides, fertilizers, and preservatives that are known toxins. Even produce labeled as “organic”can be covered in waxes and ‘edible plastics’ or preserved with “Modified Atmospheric Packaging” that extends the shelf-life of perishable foods (but may decrease yours).
Gardening also comes with a myriad of benefits like saving money, inadvertent exercise, decreasing your carbon footprint, beautifying your home, connecting with nature and family, and improving mental and physical health at any age.
“But I don’t know how to garden!” and “I don’t have the space to grow food!” aren’t very good excuses, considering anyone can grow at least some of their own food, no matter where they live. Check out these 11 Tips for Growing a Garden…Anywhere!
