  1. Use this as a place to introduce yourself, let us know where you’re coming from, and why you’re giving Paleo a try.

    I’ll go first :)

My name is Jason. And I started eating Paleo to lose weight, feel better, and mainly, because I want to keep up with my soon-to-be-born son who will be arriving later this year.

  2. My name is Heather, I live in a small Northern Ontario (Canada) city . I started Paleo on Jan 1…I’ve been a crossfitter for 6 months, and while I see myself getting stronger and a bit smaller…I still have 30-40 lbs to lose. I knew I needed to get my diet in check, so when the trainer mentioned a Paleo challenge in January I began to investigate it, and came upon this site. I ordered the Quick Start Guide, and my husband and I are doing it together. It’s only been 4 days…so I don’t have any outragous claims to make, other than I actually enjoy cooking and the new tastes…I’ve always been a meat and potatoe kinda gal. Looking forward to feeling/looking better…and after years of acne medicine/creams…if this works I’ll be blown away! Updates to follow….

  3. My name is Sarah and I live in Atlanta GA where anything is fried! I started the Paleo diet off and on for the past 6 months. I was a very active child in sports, however in my late teens and early 20′s I started to just not feel right. Things went from bad to worse and by my thirties I was diagnoised with diabetes, asthma, antiphilosolipid syndrome (autoimmune disease), sinus issues, anxiety attacks, etc… and could not understand WHY every few months something else was going wrong. I did some research and have now cut out all dairy, grains and gone to only organic, free of hormones and antibiotics meat. What a difference this change has made. I no longer have headaches or stomach aches daily and my joints are improving to where I can now jog on a treadmil (it’s been 20 years!). I hope this new diet continues to work for me!!!!

  4. Hi my name is Marie. I live in Santa Clarita, CA.
I just started Paleo to change my eating habits so I can be healthier and lose weight.
Have not had coffee this week (I really love coffee) and have not had any dairy. I have cheated a little and ate a piece of bread and butter and 1/2 a donut… bad!!!
Switched from coffee to green tea but now realize it still has caffeine so next I will try decaf green tea or any herbal tea, peppermint is nice. Can I use honey or agave? I like a little sweet in my drink.
I am still trying to get sorted with the diet its a bit overwhelming, baby steps I keep telling myself.
I am hoping the 30 day challenge will really work for me…

  5. Hi my name is Lydia. I live in New Mexico.
I am starting the challenge tomorrow and am looking forward to trying new ways of cooking old things. My daughter has been doing the Paleo lifestyle for several years and trying to get me to do the same. But me being me I was set in my ways and my way was right not hers. Last year I was diagnosed with an auto immune disease that attacks my skin. My daughter told me to eat Paleo for a few days and see what happened. Now I am ready in my mind to try this and see what happens.

  6. @lkelley (Lydia) – Congrats to you for being willing to change! For you, since you know you have an autoimmune disorder, I’d start out the diet as normal, but if it doesn’t totally clear up your skin issues, try taking nightshades out of your diet (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, tobacco, potatoes) as well as eggs. I say give it a couple of months while still eating these things. Otherwise, the diet will be VERY strict to begin with and that makes it more difficult to comply with. You should first figure out how much it helps to take grains, dairy, sugar, and veggie oils out of your diet. Then tweak from there. Good luck!

  7. I everyone! I need change…weight loss, better health, etc. i have recognized for some time now that grains did not work for me, so time to give it up and regain my life. I plan on getting up on the morning, weighing, measurements, clean out kitchen, and giving this a sincere 30 day try.

  8. I’m Amanda and I fell into Paleo on accident! My husband is in Afghanistan for a year and he had experimented with it out there. So I knew of it. But how I became interested in paleo was by looking for a meal planner online. Since I have 2 kids and very little time I wanted a service that did the meal planning for me and more importantly the SHOPPING LISTS!!! I LOVE it!
Coincidentally I am also looking to drop about 40 pounds. So by eliminating all that rice, bread, and cheese that I so love and always keep stocked, maybe I’ll start seeing results! Also, I have a wonderful service where I live that delivers your food to a pickup point. I can order online after the kids go to bed and just pick it up the next day! No more screaming kids at the grocery store!

  9. New to paleo but not nutrition. Hoping to learn to control carbs. About 10 lbs to loose would be nice but so far no other diet plan has allowed me to keep the last 10 lbs off. I am able to loose them and gain them right back. The main reason is my love for carbs which I am hoping to curb using Paleo. In the long run, eliminate sugars and reduce carbs and dairy with the will power to the occasional carb treat.

  10. I’m completely new to the Paleo thing but not to working out. I go to the gym 3-5 days a week (which I’d like to eventually get to a consistent 5) and I started the Paleo diet on January 1st. I am changing my eating habits because I constantly eat garbage! I want to better my body completely and doing this is going to help me reach my goals and be, all around, more healthy. I have had a hard time with it so far (I am doing the 80% Paleo) giving myself one “free” day a week. I’ve eaten more vegetables in the last 19 days than I’ve eaten my entire life. I’m hanging in there! Good luck to everyone. :)

  11. Jan of 2010 I decide to cut out processed foods after reading eat clean diet. Weight loss was minimal because I cooked “Healthy baked stuff”. 2011 I decide to cut out the grain, legumes, sugar after reading Cordains book. But then I continued to bake things but now using Xylitol and stevia, nut flours etc. Lost 20# proud, of my health but not weight goals. I am a nurse and the health thing was huge for me as I developed Pre-diabetes and was not going the route of my husband (Type II Insulin dependent, numerous eye surgeries to keep from going blind and on meds for his kidneys) I am 65 years old and not taking any over the counter or prescription meds for over a year (per Kevin Trudeau). So this year 2011 I have given up artificial sweeteners and immediately my blood sugars went down to normal. (as well as 8#) I bought the new Everyday Paleo cookbook to supplement my Cordains cookbook and am feeling energetic, upbeat and confident of my success. I have decided to not give myself a cheat day until my weight loss goal is met. Which so far has been easy as the food is so yummy! Glad to meet you all!

  12. Hi, new to the Paleo lifestyle. I started on Monday January 23rd (this is Day 2). So far, so good. Following the meal plan for this week. I went shopping on Sunday night. Quite a different lifestyle this is. I am being open to it all. Let’s see how it goes…

  13. 25 days down on paleo…with a few “cheats” here and there. I’m down 9 lbs. Whoot!

  14. My name is Vickie. I am from the midwest and recently have had some health issues pop up. Borderline diabetic, HTN and poor family history with heart concerns and cancer. I am trying desperately to regain my health and be around to watch my family grow. Day 1 and I pray this is the answer….

  15. Hi — I started eating Paleo (90% adherent) for about a week and a half. Up until now, I generally ate cleanly through the day and follwed a carb syncing diet (I still do this with Paleo – eg eat sweet potato after a workout but not on non-lifting days). I lift weights 4/week and supplement with HIIT 1-2/week. My issue was/is night time snacking/binging which undoes all my great effort earlier in the day. I’ve found that generally the cravings have gone away — my body is now getting the fat and protein it needs and I generally feel satisfied. However, I am overcome with exhaustion. It hits me in the afternoon and persists until I go to bed. The exhaustion is overwhelming (the only time I remeber feeling this way was in the 1st trimester of my pregnancy). I’m also now challenged by constipation (it helps by adding Fiber Dx to my food — I was hoping not to need it to eat more naturally but my body won’t work well now on its own in this department). I’m going to do my best to stick with it and get through what I read is a detox phase.
