UPDATE (2-17-17):
After about 5 months, the sensors on my strap began to peel off and the monitor was no longer accurate all the time. It would lose connectivity to any app I tried using. I tried to put in a ticket to Wahoo Fitness support. It seemed like my ticket was submitted correctly, but I have never been able to log in or reset my password so that I can get in. I got an initial response from Wahoo, but then nothing. I've been emailing and calling for the past 3 weeks and I've had no response from them. Don't even bother calling, I go to a voicemail every time. I think this is a good product until something goes wrong. Then you're on your own.
UPDATE (2-22-17):
I just received a brand new replacement Wahoo TICKR X from Wahoo. It was post marked 2-13-17 which is a few days before my update above. It's wonderful to know that they will take care of their customers who have issues with their products. I would have been happy with a new strap without the device itself, but they went the extra mile and replaced the whole thing. The only thing I would ask of Wahoo is that they improve their communication. I'm sure their customer support staff is overwhelmed, but I would not have posted the above update had they just sent an email or called saying that the replacement had been shipped. Ultimately, I'm very happy with the resolution and I would buy from Wahoo again.
The TICKR is everything the H7 isn't. It is reliable, connects fast, lets you know it's working (via the lights) and supports both ANT+ and bluetooth, so it's like 2 products in one. Also, the way it connects makes it slightly easier to put on, in my opinion.
The H7 would work fine for weeks, then have problems connecting for a few weeks, then be fine again. To get it to connect I'd have to unpair and repair, sometimes repeatedly. It had trouble with my iPhone 5 and iPhone 6, and with multiple apps (polar app, cyclemeter, wahoo app, others). The TICKR connects every time, instantly. I never have to wait for it. In case I'm worried that it isn't connected, the lights let me know it's working. But, I never worry that it isn't connected, because it ALWAYS WORKS.
Unlike the H7.
My experience with Wahoo support with other products leaves me confident that if I do have issues, they'll help me out quickly and with little fuss.
My only gripe is that the strap is a bit less comfortable than the Polar strap. The plastic bit in the back can press directly into your skin, and the HRM itself comes into contact with your skin. It would be nice if the only thing that touched your skin was the soft strap. Oh well, it's still the best HRM you can buy.-
Seriously. I am by nature a garmin fanboy but let me tell you about my woes with the Garmin Heart Rate Strap to help you understand why the Tickr is such a gem. I have had over 3 Garmin Heart Rate monitors (yes, the actual unit, the thing that plugs into a strap). Each one of the Garmin units never lasts me more than a season of running or riding my bike. First of all, the Garmin unit requires screws that are frequently striped upon receiving the unit. This means if you need to replace the battery, well, tough luck. I managed to hulk-strength open one of the Garmin units which literally pulled the screw and plastic out with it, and then reinstalled the battery cover with only three screws being able to tighten (the fourth being broken). I've had all my units spontaneously die. The garmin straps are of poor quality and while they are comfy, just don't last. Random heart rate spikes, just completely dropping dead, giving inaccurate numbers and I could go on, but let me just leave it at this: After years of trying to make the garmin heart rate monitors work I had to give up on them.
Flash forward to the Tickr. I heard raving reviews about it, mainly f or the dual ANT+ and Bluetooth capabilities. If you don't know what that means-it basically means you can use this with any modern smart phone, bike computer, running watch, triathlon watch, etc since a lot of non-phone devices support ANT+ and pretty much any modern smart phone and fitness app supports Bluetooth. So I figured, why not, I'll try this out to get the dual Ant+ and bluetooth capabilities. Well, this far exceeded my expectations. I was expecting needing to replace this unit after a year but no, It has been over a year and it is still working flawlessly. The strap is super comfortable and my only complaint about the Tickr is that the strap can't be put on without the monitor (when driving to a group ride I'd prefer to be able to put the strap on and then insert the monitor once I got there, makes it easier when wearing cycling bib shorts). The actual heart rate monitor has given me no issues- no heart rate spikes, no inaccurately high numbers, no dropping dead completely, etc. The battery cover is phenominal and doesn't have the tiny screws that garmin uses.
Overall, this is the much needed huge improvement to heart rate monitors that we deserved. Do not hesistate to buy this unit. It is phenominal.

Por mi experiencia, una gran compra.
Pros:
-It's simple to set-up, pairs easily to the phone
-HR readings are accurate
-Straps are adjustable and it generally stays on your body very well.
-If you like statistics & data, this thing is awesome
-LOTS of apps work with TICKR, so you don't have to worry about it going obsolete any time soon
Cons:
-Bluetooth being activated on your phone can drain the battery quicker
-During REALLY aggressive workouts the monitor can slowly slide down your body if you don't ensure the straps are tight enough.
With regards to my last point, the only time I had the TICKR slide down my body happened while rolling jiu jitsu. For those that don't know, jiu jitsu is a grappling sport which involves a lot of physical contact. In truth I would not recommend using the TICKR for full contact sports as it could be damaged. Regardless, I wanted to really test out the TICKR and it passed with flying colors! The monitor DID slide down to my belly area by the end of the class, but to my surprise the HR data recorded was accurate all the way through! I have attached a screenshot of the Wahoo Cardio App as proof. You can see my heart rate spikes during warm-up, slows down during technique, and then rises again during sparring. Super cool!
Overall, I would definitely recommend this product if you are interested in leveraging your heart rate data to improve your health and overall performance. 10/10!

Merci
Wrist based heart rate sensors are useless for my requirement. They are miserably inaccurate for intense exercises or any HIIT or interval based training. I was tempted by their convenience though, just put it on the wrist and wear it all day long, and it does a few more things than just measure heart rate, but eventually didn't go for them as they did not meet the one job that I wanted them to do - tell me when to slow down.
Now chest strap based sensors - the popular ones are not available in India directly. This Wahoo was imported from somewhere as well. That is a real shame, because with the kind of market India is, I think we should have everything available locally. And fitness is becoming increasingly important. People are cross-fitting, doing zumba, kick boxing and gyms have never been fuller. And there are some many people flashing their activity monitors in public - even if most of them are pretty much useless. Some of them surely need a little more accurate heart rate tracking during their exercises. Anyways, I rant. At least I could import it. And at the end of it, it is still cheaper than a fitbit charge HR or something.
I have used a Polar H7 in the past, and it worked, most of the times. Trouble was it was basically a piece of plastic that you put on the chest strap and hoped it was sensing something and would send the data to an app on your phone. If the app wouldn't show the heart rate, you were left wondering if it was a problem in the app, or the bluetooth connection, or the sensor had a problem, or the sensor tips weren't moist, or your heart wasn't working! The addition of tiny indicator LEDs on Wahoo does give the reassurance that the sensor is fine. Another thing I liked about Wahoo over Polar is that the sensor in Wahoo is the bridge connecting the strap. So the buttons on the Tickr that you push into the strap, is what closes the strap. In Polar, the strap had a hook you put around your back. The hook kind of dug at the back, and at times, I used to forget taking the Polar out of the strap causing a lot of battery drain, and presumably the early failure of the device. In Wahoo, you by default have to undo the sensor from the strap to take it off.
Besides that, everything else is standard and streamless. The sensor connects to a fitness app. Which has worked everytime yet. I will pray that the device doesn't stop working, because it's certainly not getting any support out here in India. Well, I guess I could always reduce my review rating!
