A Stool for My Stools!

There have been two times in my life when I have had issues with constipation.  The first time was when I first started following the Paleo Diet.  It is completely normal to have some digestive issues when making a major dietary change, and after a few weeks, my body regulated itself as I learned how to get enough fiber from sources other than grains.  Hallelujah!  The other time is, unfortunately, occurring right now.  I am 12 weeks pregnant, and for the past several weeks, eliminating my bowels has, once again, become a chore.  (Too much information, I know!)  Like making a drastic dietary change, it is completely normal to struggle with constipation during pregnancy; however, just because it’s normal, doesn’t mean I can’t try to figure out something to do about it!

Enter the Step and Go – a remarkably easy and natural solution in preserving a clean colon and a healthy body!   The Step and Go step is structurally designed to mimic the posture and efficiency of natural squatting while using the modern day toilet.  The Step and Go step helps align the rectum with the anal canal, encouraging the body out of the restrained posture and into a more natural elimination position.  The position also helps to open your colon, resulting in a more complete and healthier elimination.

The Step and Go step is designed to fit around any toilet, and using the Step and Go is simple.  When it’s time to sit down, simply pull the step away from the toilet and place your feet on top of it in a comfortable position.  Then lean forward, and do your thing!  By doing this, your colon adjusts from being kinked to open.

Here’s the best part.  It worked!  I was pretty skeptical that it would make a difference, but I was quite backed up and willing to try anything.  Turns out that once my colon was in the right position, eliminating my bowels became MUCH easier!  Before the Step and Go, I had to work REALLY hard to “go.”  I’m not going to go so far as to say that it has cured my issue, but it has certainly eased the difficulty quite a bit.  My bloating has subsided substantially, and I feel so much better.

While the Step and Go is great for people who are struggling with constipation, it is recommended for everyone!  Anatomically, humans are intended to squat when eliminating and have done so since the dawn of time.  Our cavemen ancestors (who ate a paleo diet, of course!) squatted, and we should, too.  (Surely, you’ve figured out by now that the cavemen knew what they were doing!)   Of course, I’m in no rush to get rid of my toilet or indoor plumbing, but the Step and Go provides the best of both worlds.

Thanks for sticking with me as I talked (way too graphically) about my bowel movements, but it is an important topic!  We get frequent emails from people dealing with various digestive issues.  Since Step and Go helped me, I was eager to share the news with all of you with the hopes that it might help some of you, too.

If you want to try the Step and Go, we do have a 10% discount code. Just type in PALEOPLAN under coupon codes. Maybe it can help you too!

Okay, poop talk is over; we’ll be back to our normal topics and delicious recipes next time!
